Karl received his formal training in winemaking from UC Davis and cut his teeth here in Virginia. His family background in wine comes from Austria and California, but it is the uniqueness of Virginia fruit and the nascent nature of the industry that makes winemaking at Slater Run such a compelling project. He is thrilled to be working with Katell to craft the best wines Virginia can offer.
